How to convert

  1. Open https://app.evova.ai/editor and drop the source file onto the empty editor (no account needed).
  2. Optionally clean up or edit it first; deleted splats are dropped and deformation and color edits are baked into the export.
  3. Open Export in the top bar, pick the target format and set its options, then download the file.

Format notes

  • PLY: the common interchange format with full attributes.
  • Compressed PLY and SPZ: much smaller files for sharing and web delivery.
  • .splat: compact format without spherical harmonics (SH) coefficients, so view-dependent color is lost.
  • .ksplat: compressed format used by some web viewers.
  • SOG: compressed bundle; choose how many SH bands to keep (none to band 3) and the number of compression iterations.
  • USD (USDA): OpenUSD ASCII for USD-based pipelines.
  • EVOVA-specific attributes (such as directional opacity) have no standard equivalent and are not exported; publish with the EVOVA viewer to keep them.

FAQ

How do I convert a PLY Gaussian splat to SPZ or SOG?

Open https://app.evova.ai/editor, drop the PLY file, then choose Export and pick SPZ or SOG. For SOG you can choose how many SH bands to keep. It runs in the browser without an account.

Can I export a Gaussian splat to USD?

Yes. The EVOVA Editor exports Gaussian splats as OpenUSD ASCII (.usda), alongside PLY, compressed PLY, SPZ, .splat, .ksplat and SOG.

Does converting to .splat keep view-dependent color?

No. The .splat format does not store spherical harmonics coefficients, so view-dependent color is dropped. Use PLY, SPZ or SOG with SH bands to keep it.
